Harris Highlights – The Battle of Preston 1648

Personal insights into The Harris’ collections – chosen, researched and shared by our wonderful volunteers.

Three days that cost a King his head – the Battle of Preston 1648.

Join Harris volunteer and confessed non historian but history enthusiast, Ian Kilroe as he shares what he has learnt about an important but overlooked conflict of the English Civil War.

Aimed at all levels of experience and interest, the starting point for this informal talk was when Ian saw the painting of the Battle in The Harris as a young boy.

Meeting place: inside the Discover Preston Gallery, talk will be based around the painting The Battle of Preston and Walton by Charles Cattermole.
