The Birley Exhibition Opening – Artist Led

Artist Led showcases six contemporary artists responding to works by regional artists in The Harris collection. Featuring Jayne Simpson, Julie Mayer, Roberta Cialfi, Sarah Grant, Rita Robson and Ella Marie Thornhill from The Birley Studios. All artists were invited to explore the Harris collection and identify an artwork with which they felt a piece of their own work had an affinity.

Housed in the former police station just a short walk away, on the corner opposite to the market, The Birley is both a studio complex, home to 29 practitioners, and a gallery open to the public. As an artist led organisation, The Birley exists to support critically and socially engaged art in Preston, providing a space where artists can work, experiment and develop.
