Horrockses Fashions

In fashion, silk has always been regarded as the epitome of luxury, elegance and sophistication. Horrockses Fashions used silk for many of their cocktail and evening dresses. Through the connection to her brother Anthony, Maryse became something of an in-house mannequin for Horrockses Fashions, and from around the age of 18 she regularly wore dresses either gifted from Horrockses’ shows or made especially for her in the studio, tailored precisely to her petite frame. The dramatic monochromatic check patterned dress is off-set with a pop of pink around the bust and dramatic bow at the back. The vibrancy of a Maryse’s wardrobe from this period, much of it created in the Horrockses’ studio, stands as a rare and deeply personal record of the brand’s creative peak.
