Singing for the brain
Jane Swarbrick is the Co-ordinator of Skylarks Community Choir in Preston who specialise in fun and interactive singing sessions for all. Skylarks choirs from around Preston performed at The Unfurlings Book Launch on 6 March. And they were due to perform again on 13 May for Dementia Action Week. We had regular Singing for the Brain sessions planned as part of the Events Programme for The Unfurlings.
Jane says: ‘I believe we can all sing, we all have a voice. Singing is something we can all enjoy, taking us back to times and places we’ve been before and tapping into memories from the past. It can lead us on a new journey where we can form friendships and connections. Singing can generate a great sense of wellbeing and most importantly allow our spirits to soar.’
