The Big Picture – The pARTnership

Using The Harris Collection as a jumping off point, The Big Picture brings together an ambitious and vibrant collection of contemporary work spanning painting, sculpture, and mixed media, made by artists from The pARTnership, a visual arts development project working with learning disabled artists in Blackpool, led by Grundy Art Gallery.

Work ranges from Stephen Crawfords large abstract coastal landscape, Justin Addy’s chromatic abstract paintings, Kirsty Pemberton’s heavily textured sculptural paintings, Chloe Macfarlane’s colour drenched textile installation, Kylie New’s sensitive pigeon studies, Candice Swallow’s tactile abstract mixed media works, portraiture by  Samatha Bragg, Conor Gavin’s digital animation was inspired by the frieze in Gallery two which connected to his lifelong love of horses, bold bright textile work by Dawn Ward, geometric abstraction by Jennifer Smithson, Stacey Foster’s delicate hand formed sculptures and Lesley New’s beautiful sculptural depictions of the illustrations from the Curious Herbal book. 

Abstract painting with vibrant blue and white brushstrokes, creating an impression of waves or clouds in motion. The mood is dynamic and fluid.
