YOU ARE HISTORY with Greg Jenner and Jenny Taylor
Discover some delightful, daft and downright deadly facts with historian and podcaster Greg Jenner as he shares the fascinating history behind ordinary objects you see every day.
His book You Are History covers everything from the alarm clock to the toilet, so get ready for mind-boggling tales from the past and hilarious historical happenings. Did you know that the first TV was made out of biscuit tins and knitting needles? Or that a few hundred years ago it was fashionable to style your hair with cat poo? Greg will be joined by Preston-based illustrator Jenny Taylor who brought Greg’s book to life with her vibrant comical illustrations.
Greg Jenner is a historian, author and podcaster, known for communicating history through comedy and popular culture. He is best-known for hosting the chart-topping BBC comedy podcast You’re Dead to Me, which has had over 150 million downloads. For children, he recently presented Dead Funny History on the BBC, and his Homeschool History BBC Radio 4 series won him an army of new fans during the Covid pandemic. As historical consultant to 11 series of the BAFTA award-winning CBBC comedy TV series Horrible Histories, Greg ensured the factual accuracy of 1,500 funny sketches and songs, as well as working on the BAFTA-nominated spinoff movie. Greg has published three books for adults, and four for children, including his Totally Chaotic History series which is co-written with expert historians and archaeologists. You Are History was his debut bestseller for children, illustrated by Jenny Taylor.

Jenny is a children’s book illustrator, graphic designer and self confessed biscuit lover with over 7 years experience in the industry. Her work specialises in hand drawn typography and amusing illustrations that aim to make you smile, laugh and even learn a thing or two. Originally from Scotland, she now lives in Preston with her wife and their black cat Pigeon and when she’s not working you’ll probably find her flexing her obscure knowledge at a pub quiz or lost in a vinyl shop.
In 2019, Jenny graduated with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration and immediately began working on her first book An Alien in the Jam Factory and the rest is history! (quite literally as she went on to illustrate Greg Jenner’s best seller You Are History). Jenny has gone on to illustrate many more books which all celebrate her love for her work and passion in great story telling.
