Joseph Gudgeon is a freelance photographer who captures all aspects of life from his hometown of Preston. He specialises in documentary photography.

For the past few years he has been photographing Preston’s traditional pubs and social clubs. In this series of evocative photos Joseph has managed to capture everything from traditional pub games, glimpses of humour, through to the many local characters who regularly frequent these establishments.

Sadly some of Preston’s pubs have permanently closed during this time which will only serve to give these images added poignancy in the future. Joseph takes a genuine interest in the people he photographs and this comes across in the warmth which emanates from some of the portraits on display.
